Mikolay is lucky enough to go to school that uses creativity and handmade arts & crafts not only to help him develop his imagination but also to allow him to explore his creative side and use it for expressing his academic abilities.
As a family we realize just how fortunate and lucky we are in that respect. However not every child has such an open and creative environment to allow their imagination to flourish. Knowing that we decided to share with other kids and parents some of the arts & crafts Mikolay does at school and at home.
The best advice from me would be to have basic art supplies, wool, felt lying around and allowing your children to use it any time their want. Young children learn by imitation so if you start doing something, your child will follow and join you in that task.
In case of Mikolay & Marek it’s usually Marek who learns by imitation. Doing any kind of homemade arts and crafts makes Marek very uncomfortable but it doesn’t mean he can’t do it. It simply means that he pushes his boundaries in this department each time we record the episode.
Homemade arts & crafts don’t have to be perfect. In fact your art pieces shouldn’t be perfect. What is important in this activity is to allow creativity to flow (even if you don’t think you are a creative person).
We try to keep the episodes as short as we can. Each episode focuses on different arts and crafts ideas. Once again what’s important is using your imagination and not worrying about perfection.
So don’t be shy, give it a try.
In this episode Mikolay will show you how he makes personal postcard.
