These can be made for teacher or friend gifts, can also use them as gifts for the kids. What other ideas do you have for gifts for Valentine’s? Mugs are a perfect way to present a small gift of chocolate or candy.

Supplies you’ll need:
-a mug (we got ours from Walmart in the dish section, you can also find cheap white mugs at dollar stores and thrift stores)
-rubbing alcohol
-a stencil (we bought stencils in craft section at Walmart, you could also cut a circle out of contact paper and cut the initial and pattern using an exacto knife)
-markers in a few colors – oil-based sharpie markers, these were also in the craft section at Walmart.*Using the oil-based sharpie markers is what makes this dishwasher safe
-hersheys kisses, rolos, kit kats, chocolates, lollipops, etc. to fill the mug

Prepare your mugs by wiping them down with rubbing alcohol to clean the surface. Think and plan your mug design before you begin. It’s fun to get creative! Try stripes, dots, and different colors. Using the oil-based sharpie markers create your design on the mug, color in the stencils. Once you’re satisfied, peel off your stencil and the design is done!

To get the design to stay and be dishwasher safe put the mugs on a cookie sheet and put them into a cold oven. After they are placed in there, turn the oven on to 375 degrees. Bake them for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and let the Valentine’s Day gift mugs cool. Finally, fill them with Hershey’s kisses, kit kats, rolos, or any small candy or chocolate you like then stick a lollipop bouquet in and it’s done! Quick and easy DIY valentine’s day gift craft!

To recap how to make a marker design dishwasher safe.
–Prep mug with rubbing alcohol
–Draw on design using Oil-Based sharpie markers
–Place mugs in cool oven. Turn on oven and then bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Turn off oven and let the design slowly cool down inside the oven. Let design “set” for the rest of that day
–Wash in the dishwasher, top rack only
